Kanwal Safdar leads the People Analytics and HRIS teams at Tesla Motors. In this role, Ms. Safdar is responsible for all Analytics efforts including unearthing key business insights and prompting action as a result of reporting and analysis, workforce planning, employee surveys and interventions. She is also responsible for all HR systems including Workday, Taleo etc.
She has a Masters in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and deep expertise in the field of People Analytics in huge part due to her 9 year stint in the People Analytics team at Google. Some of her work during that time includes research into what makes teams effective at Google as well as how M&A integration works at Google and how that process can be optimized through data and research.
Emma Horgan is Vice President Human Resources at Maple Leaf Foods Inc., a $3 billion Canadian consumer packaged meats company with 11,000 employees, leading brands and market shares in Canada, and strong export markets. Maple Leaf Foods has an award winning values-based culture and has a high focus on employee engagement, development, and continuous improvement.
Emma and her team develop and implement high impact performance and talent management processes, create leadership and learning programs to cultivate strong leaders and skill sets to generate organizational success, and to provide business partnering across the organization. This includes working with leaders to ensure the HR strategy is aligned and effective in helping drive the overall business strategy.
Originally from the UK, Emma has an Msc in Strategic Human Resources Management from the University of Hull, and 15 years of progressive experience with the full range of Human Resources responsibilities including, strategy development, organizational design, talent acquisition, talent and succession management, engagement, employee relations, legal matters, policy, labour relations and change management etc. She moved to Canada with Maple Leaf Foods in 2005.
Anuj has been with Google, in data-based HR teams, for 8 years. Prior to joining Google, he taught in the area of Accounting & Finance at the Richard Ivey School of Business and also consulted with Mercer HR Consulting. He has MBA and HBA degrees from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
Kerry Colpitts is the Director of Strategic Planning and Reporting for the Human Resources Branch of the Canada Revenue Agency. She is responsible for workforce planning, demographics, performance measurement, and HR functional oversight and modernization.
Terry Lashyn is the Director of People Intelligence at ATB Financial – and is responsible for the definition, analysis and oversight of People Intelligence and Analytics for use by management throughout ATB in attainment of becoming THE place to work and achieving ATB’s strategic goals.
Terry has had major parts in large projects over his career at ATB. He has been involved in General Ledger conversions, helped establish the Business Intelligence area at ATB and was involved in the Core Banking replacement project that was considered the largest one time bank conversion in North America. Over the past year he led a project that saw ATB implement a people analytics software across the organization - allowing people leaders the ability to see the people trends in their areas in relation to the rest of the company. Terry was also deeply involved with IBM on a developmental project which involved helping take Talent Insights – Kenexa to the next level.
Terry is based out of Edmonton, Alberta and enjoys to travel, keeping active and supporting the Edmonton Oilers. He is also a volunteer for the Edmonton Rock and Roll Society and enjoys their annual outdoor concerts.
Amit Chowdhary leads Workforce Transformation for VISA, where he is driving a critical shift in the overall workforce to better align with Visa business strategy and goals. He is also helping build out the workforce analytics function leveraging data to drive change within the organization. Prior to Visa, Amit spent 6 years at Hewlett Packard where he led key C suite driven initiatives related to workforce strategy, cost optimization and organizational structure refinement . In his last role at HP, Amit led the workforce planning and analytics organization for the Services business unit of HP, driving the people strategy for ~120k employees. Prior to that, Amit led consulting projects at Deloitte Consulting and Booz & Co
Amit holds a B.E. from Delhi University and an MBA from Darden Graduate School of Business.
Brian Macdonald is in his second season as the Panthers Director of Hockey Analytics. He previously spent six years as an assistant/associate professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at West Point. While at West Point, his research interests included using mathematics and statistics for the purposes of player evaluation and decision-making in sports, and especially in hockey. He received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Lafayette College, Easton, PA, and a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.
